Summary: Snape has watched over Potter for so long that nothing from poisonous snakes and assassins to amorous doppelgangers can stop him. Eventually he's going to figure out why.

Despite the wealth of fic to be read right now, I've read this twice since it posted. It has everything you could ask for: Snape in a bizarrely appropriate Animagus form, adopted by Harry, a running internal monologue in Snape's head that makes a 'Do Not Drink Beverages While Reading' warning essential, a lovely subplot, and that most delicious of all confrontations: the unveiling of the Animagus to the person who's perhaps done and said things he wouldn't have, had he known that said Animagus was actually...well, you get the picture.

The ending is beyond satisfying; it's perfect. Believe me, this is one you don't want to pass by.
