Summary: Harry keeps a daily diary of their summer holiday trip.

Severus and Harry's Most Excellent Summer Holiday.

DAY 1:
Someone told me once—the first day of a vacation is either heaven or hell. Ours wasn't either. We discovered when we went to the beach that I'd forgotten the sunscreen. Severus wasn't too happy, and he fumed and muttered all the way back. Me, I had to work at keeping a straight face, 'cause he was red as a lobster! Oh, I healed him up when we got back, except he's still pink around the eyes and a bit tender around his nipples. And of course, right now he's going through our bags, sure that I've forgotten something else. Doesn't seem to appreciate how I remembered his brandy, or his nose plugs, or his water-wings…

DAY 2: Went out to dinner at a really nice restaurant—had a real orchestra and food I've never seen before. We were just about to leave, when a pretty lady came to the table and asked Severus to dance. I nearly choked on my drink, but imagine my surprise when he took one look at me, then told her yes! He had her all over the floor, laughing and flirting, doing a really good job of it. Who would've ever believed the old bat could dance like that? When they were done, he went and said something to the conductor, then waved me out to the floor—he knows I can't dance! But we did the tango! I could hardly catch my breath, and at the very end, he dipped me! Looked me in the eye with that look, and I almost swooned on the spot. Couldn't wait to get back and get him in bed. Hey, what the hell am I doing here? He's waiting for me!

DAY 3: I was up early, ready to go. So many things to see here, so many things to do—I want to go parasailing! But Severus wouldn't get up. I tried, but he kicked me out of bed and said 'Go away.' So I wandered around the room a bit, made lots of noise, sat out on the balcony for a while, went down and got breakfast and a cuppa. Came back up, and he's still snoring away. What's the deal? We can sleep at home! Then around noon, he got up, showered, and came out dressed. Threw two tickets on the table—for deep sea fishing! I've always wanted to do that, and how he knew and managed to arrange it all, I'll never know. Then he growled and asked me if I was ready. Said, "Good god, we only have a week, Potter. Do you want to spend the entire time in this bloody room?!" My hero.

DAY 4: He's cross with me. Accused me—me!—of flirting with the barman. We walked all the way back and he didn't say a word. Not even good night. Just flounced (he has a rather nice flounce, come to think of it—the way he wiggles his arse) off to bed and slammed the door. I'm having a glass of wine to mellow myself out, and then I'll go in there and make it up to him, though there's nothing to make up. Doesn't he know I never look at anyone but him?

DAY 5: We had the most wonderful day. Didn't do anything special—just walked on the beach, collected fossils, splashed each other as the tide came in. Had supper in the room, then sat out on the balcony with a bottle of wine, and just talked, liked we used to. He's drawing a bath for us now. Funny how a day like this makes me realize...I really do love him. Don't tell him very often, though, 'cause I know he has trouble with stuff like that. He's only told me one time—when I was so sick with dragon pox, he sat by my bed for days, and maybe because he thought I was out of it, he said it. But even if he never does again, I know it.

DAY 6: We got thrown out of a fruit market today. This little greasy man caught Severus poking his fingernail in the mangos. Said it was the only way to tell if they were ripe enough. What a scene! Chased by a man wielding a…I think it was a courgette. He managed to get Severus on the head once. I was disgusted, but Severus seemed pleased with himself for some ungodly reason. What a git.

DAY 7: We decided to take the ferry back to the mainland, instead of Apparating. Stood out on the deck and watched the sunset. Severus put his arm around my shoulder and practically hugged me, and we just stood there and admired how beautiful it was. He even let me put my head on his shoulder, and just before we went in, he kissed me—one of those kisses—the ones that make my knees weak. I'm sort of sad our hols are over. We've done so many things, made so many memories, but honestly, that trip back on the boat was the best one of all.

Tangoing!Snape! Woo! Loved this, darling. It was sweet enough to make my teeth hurt, but your Severus was Severus. He can be as sweet as he wants as long as he still has that snark.

: )

This is so utterly perfect. Not exciting or life shattering... just a snapshot out of Severus and Harry's life. And it is so in character that it is truly believable. I really love it. -Clare

Thanks, Clare. I've enjoyed doing these established relationship ficlets--no trying to figure out how to get them together. As you said, just little snapshots. Thanks for letting me know you liked it.

Don't listen to those who say it's too sweet, it's PERFECT for me (of course, this may just confirm that it's too sweet for everyone else, but that's their problem, innit? *g*).
Loved it.
Clever to use diary form. Harry sounds very much himself here. *pets sweet ficlet*

A most excellent summer holiday indeed! Just the right combination of romance and fun with sea and sun - spiced up with lovers’ spats, hidden talents and the occasional encounter with the locals.

Severus seemed pleased with himself for some ungodly reason.
I’m not sure why I find this comment and Severus’ behaviour so amusing, given that my sympathies are with Harry.

That Harry didn’t “forget” to pack the water-wings is a sign of true love if there ever was one. :)

*sigh* I think I feel a bit envious of them now.

I think Snape likes to irritate people, and provoking someone into chasing him with a courgette would probably make him happy.

Me too, I'd like a seaside holiday. :) Thanks for reading!

1) water-wings…

XP Ack....! XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD Angel, ROFL!

2) and at the very end, he dipped me!

*soppy dreamy expression on face b/c of dancing!snarry*

3) My hero.

*expression just got impossibly soppier*

4) and make it up to him, though there's nothing to make up.

Isn't this what Snarry is, though? =) Saying I Am Sorry just to start conversing again? Oh, wait. That's love. My bad. :P

5) We had the most wonderful day. Didn't do anything special

:) That's how most perfect days are. Thank you for this!

6) caught Severus poking his fingernail in the mangos.

Is THAT what they call it, nowadays? *wiggles eyebrow* (Isn't it strange how we can do things online that we can't do IRL?^^)

7) I think it was a courgette. He managed to get Severus on the head once.

This...is...just...LOL.

8) we just stood there

Another perfect!day!doing!nothing scenario! <3!

Heee, I had great fun with this! I didn't want it to be soppy, but wanted to show that Snape would be surly even on vacation. But Harry see's through his veneer.

No, really, Snape was really sticking his fingers literally in the mangoes, which is why they got thrown out. No sexual innuendo intended. :)

The important thing is that theboth had a good vacation, even if Snape didn't give as much of an outward appearance of it as Harry did. That's what makes him Snape.

Glad you enjoyed their days too--thanks for commenting!
