I was just wondering yesterday if there was a trailer out yet. I'm glad they didn't use Ryan Phillipe like they were originally going to, but I'm not sure if I'm going to like it. Where's the homoerotica? Where's the seduction of young men into the opium dens? Where's Basil? Maybe they're saving it for trailer #2?

Yeah, you're right, one can only hope.

I was really excited when the first trailer came out for the new Sherlock Holmes movie too, but the more I saw, the more I don't think I'm going to like it.

I'm confused as to whether they've actually chosen a Sherlock Holmes story to base the plot after or if they just made one up. And even though I like Jude Law in his part from what I see in the trailers, choosing a thin, athletic, attractive man to play Watson is so completely to opposite of canon Watson that it sort of boggles my mind.

And does wanting to see a sex scene between Ben Barnes and Colin Firth (even if they never actually had a sexual relationship that I can remember in the book) mean that I need to go to the special Hell?

Oooo, I so could handle that too! We'll hold hands together on the way down. :)

Oh good, at least I won't be alone! I wonder if anyone's written fanfic for that yet... and if I need to write some myself...

I think I'm now inspired to reread the book! Aren't you? Fanfic...*ponders*

You know, I wondered that too. I bet they made one up. And I actually thought that Jude Law would be a better fit for Holmes, and someone else entirely for Watson (even though I like Johnny Depp, I can't see him as either of them).

They probably did. I know I haven't read all of the Sherlock tales, but I find it very hard to believe that Doyle would have written about Sherlock boxing, what with the violin playing and all. I agree about Jude Law; I could definitely have seen him as Holmes. You know who I think would have been a fantastic Watson? Timothy Spall. I just saw him in My House in Umbria and he was excellent as the side-kick of sorts.

Yes, Timothy Spall would be excellent! And boxing just isn't Holmes, I'm sorry. And I could so see Jude Law playing the violin and being appropriately brooding, with bursts of genius!
