Double Dare

Severus had been in the loo for several minutes. Harry waited for the eruption to come.

"God damn it! Why I agreed to this madness, I'll never know." There was silence, then the voice drifted out again. "I can't believe you…"

"You agreed because it was a dare," Harry called from the bed, then watched as Severus, buck-naked, stood in the doorway, his expression thunderous, but so comical, Harry had to grin.

"What did you use?" Severus asked stonily.

Harry held it up. "Sharpie. Muggle marking pen. Permanent ink."

"Nothing Muggle is permanent," Severus muttered as he stalked for the wardrobe.

Eyes wide, Harry choked out, "Uh, you have…" His gasp made Severus look over his shoulder.

"What?"

Harry gesticulated wildly. "You have…toilet paper…stuck…" he wheezed.

Turning to flex his torso, Severus shot Harry a withering look as he plucked the trail of white paper sticking to his behind. "Perfect. One more humiliation…"

Harry went to stand at the loo mirror, tilting his head to study what Severus had woven into his hair. "I like it," he called out.

Severus snorted.

***

Only Minerva was in the staff room at breakfast when Harry and Severus arrived.

"Minerva," Severus said stiffly, sitting beside her.

Her voice oddly calm, she asked, "Are those…glasses drawn on your face?"

Harry leaned over and answered, "Yeah, a little 'no magic' contest we had last night. See if we could do it without waking each other."

Lips pursed, she pointed to Harry's hair. "Beautiful daisy chain you have there."

Harry fingered the flowers. "Isn't it, though?"

Severus sat and stoically sipped his tea through their gales of laughter.

He turned, murmuring into the hair at Harry's ear, "This had better come off, or you'll have something permanent stuck up your arse."

"Careful, don't crush my daisies."

Actually, I'm a little shocked the SMELL of a Sharpie didn't wake Severus! Heh.

Hmmm, I have a set of Sharpies that don't smell at all. OH WAIT, it's a magical world, isn't it?? Maybe Harry did something so it didn't smell?!

I should probably look around more for markers because they probably do make ones that don't smell. But I don't think I've used anything to draw other than a pencil since I was 15. So I'm sure they've made some advances since then. (like electricity and indoor plumbing. ;D)

I do like the smell of some markers, and shoe polish, so was actually disappointed to find these didn't smell at all. There's indoor plumbing?!

LOL that was hilarious! I can totally imagine Severus' reaction to having something drawn on his face and then finding a trail of loo paper following him too!

When Harry and Minerva were laughing at him, I expected him to hex one or both of them and then storm out of the staffroom. But that's not as much fun.

Great Job!

Heee, I couldn't resist the toilet paper, even though it really didn't have anything to do with the 'dare.'. I do love to see Snape humiliate...himself.

Glad you enjoyed it--thanks for commenting!

It's the accidental loo-paper attachment that made me chuckle! (A piece of unimportant Britpickiness - we don't use the colloquial term Sharpie for marker pen - probably because of the dominance of German brands here.)

I think it's a local thing, though, because I know Brits who do, and I've seen them in the Sainsbury's there. Heee, stuck toilet paper is always good for a laugh--thanks!

I just love how cosy they are with each other in this. *happy sigh*

"Careful, don't crush my daisies." LOL, Harry’s adorably attached to the flowers and admirably undeterred by Severus’ threat. Permanent, indeed. And all he could think of was adorning Harry’s hair with daisies. Severus is such a romantic!

Wonderful drabble.

Me, I wonder if he already had those 'glasses' on his face when he wove those daisies into Harry's hair...that would be a priceless picture! And yeah, you're right, it would take a fair amount of ease with each other to do something like this. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
