This won't take you but a few minutes to read. I'm not going to spoil it by discussing it, except to say that it's beautifully written, combines Snape and Hermione in a way I've never seen before, and made my skin crawl in parts, but tempted me to smile at the end. I challenge anyone to read this and then tell me they weren't affected...how, I won't say. Part of my amazement and admiration is due to the fact that she was able to do all this in a ficlet.

A/N: This was written in honor of J.K.Rowling's 800 word prequel ficlet written for charity. The 800_words challenge was: Use 800 words exactly, no more, no less, to tell us a bit about what happened in the years before Harry's birth. Plot, characters, and themes are up to you.

Thanks to jadzialove for the read-through. This ficlet is written in the 2nd person POV, something I don't do very often, but this time I thought it might work well.
